280-foot DP-2 Dive Support Vessel with Fully Integrated 1,000-foot Saturation System
This impressive, newly-built vessel has been chartered by EPIC Divers & Marine to support diving operations in the Gulf of Mexico. It is an ABS classed, dynamically positioned, diesel, electric powered, multi-purpose, offshore vessel with rapid and efficient handling characteristics to support EPIC’s experienced crew with their activities related to diving, ROVs, platform removal, well plug and abandonment, surveys, and offshore construction and maintenance.
The Adams Challenge is constructed of all welded mild steel with flared bulbous bow, transom stern, and round bilge hull form. A double skinned 9-foot moon pool is arranged near midships and is open from the deck to the bottom of the vessel. Powered by four Wartsila engines, propulsion is provided by twin azimuth propeller units AFT, each driven by an electric motor. Transverse thrust is provided by the twin azimuth units AFT and by three transverse thrusters forward, one of which is a retractable azimuth unit.
The vessel is equipped with an ABS classed, 1,000-foot split-level saturation dive system, dual redundant dynamic positioning systems, a helideck, an electric hydraulic 100-T heave compensated deck crane, and has 14,700 square feet of clear deck space. Accommodations are provided for 28 crew members, with 73 additional berths.
As the largest vessel in EPIC’s fleet, the Adams Challenge will provide the means to handle large and challenging projects.
