Management

EPIC’s management team represents a combined total of more than 100 years in the commercial diving industry. Members of our management team have served in leadership roles in industry associations and are recognized as innovators in dive technology and safety. Their commitment to quality, safety, and value sets the tone for every project that EPIC undertakes on behalf of its clients and has made EPIC the strong company that it is today.



Mike Brown
Vice President / General Manager

Mike Brown began his commercial diving career as a tender in 1977. Since then, he has worked as a diver, saturation diver, supervisor, superintendent, project manager, estimating manager, and operations manager. He has more than 11 years of experience managing multiple multi-million-dollar, lump-sum deepwater projects. He has served on the board of directors of the Association of Diving Contractors International for more than 15 years and currently serves as its President. He served two terms as President in 2005 & 2006 and was the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Chapter Chair for 10 years.

John Herren
Senior Director of Operations

John Herren began his career in the GOM as a tender in 1989. He has 19 years in the commercial diving industry as a saturation diver, supervisor, superintendent, project manager, and project estimator. He began his time with EPIC in 1998 as a diver and supervisor, then moved into management in 2001 as an Operations Manager and was promoted to Director of Diving Operations in 2004. He has a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and an M.B.A. from Tulane University.
Ross Saxon, Ph.D
Director of Projects

Ross Saxon has, since 1953 been involved in one form or another of underwater operations.  Beginning as a Navy trained SCUBA diver in 1955, he eventually became a Deep Sea Diving & Salvage Officer (Saturation Qualified) in 1971.  Additionally, he moved through the US Navy ranks from Seaman to Chief Petty Officer and then from Ensign to Lieutenant Commander; retiring from the Navy in 1974, being at that time, the only Naval Officer qualified in Submarines, qualified for command of submarines and surface ships, a certified Deep Submersible Vehicle Pilot (TRIESTE), and as a  Deep Sea Diving & Salvage (Saturation Qualified)Officer.  Since retirement from the Navy, Ross has held various positions, including Operations Manager for SEAL Petroleum, Sales Manager for HydroTech International, Sales Manager for Perry Oceanographics, CEO of Nautilus Enviromedical Systems, and Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of the Association of Diving Contractors International for a period of nearly 15 years, and Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Underwater Safety Projects. He has a Bachelors degree in Oceanographic Specialties, as well as an M.B.A. and Ph.D in Business Administration.
Sharon Estopinal
Director of Business Services

With more than 24 years of experience in accounting, financial management, and contract administration, Sharon Estopinal is currently responsible for contract administration, risk management, and human resources. She has been an integral part of the growth of EPIC over the past 17 years in the areas of accounting, human resources, contracts and risk management. She is a past President of the Desk and Derrick Club, and is also responsible for the community efforts and outreach programs at EPIC. Sharon has an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration.
Eva Cancienne
Health Safety & Environment Director

EPIC’s HS&E Director, has over 20 years of experience in Safety, Quality, and Health environment working within the nuclear and commercial diving industry. She verifies that all of EPIC’s programs, policies, and procedures continually meet the needs and requirements of federal, state, local, and customer regulations. She was instrumental in the development of EPIC’s DIVE 5™ program and the aspect of “Continuous Improvement.” As part of her responsibilities, she leads all root cause analysis reviews and directs EPIC’s commitment to safety.
Stephen Mang
Controller

Stephen Mang joined EPIC in 2006, assuming the financial responsibility of this business unit of TETRA Technologies, Inc.  He has over 10 years of experience managing accounting operations for publically traded companies with extensive experience in business acquisition and business assimilation.  Current responsibilities include all financial aspects of this business unit, including financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting.  He is a member of both the AICPA and the Louisiana State Society of CPA’s.
